Chassis Design Release Engineer



CAD trained in Chassis Systems: Suspension, Brakes, Steering.
Provide support with design feasibility & section proposals to clearly define design direction to Manager / Engineering Team.
Support product engineering, design, and release for Vehicle Chassis Systems including sub-systems and components, while supporting cross-functional teams.
Support timing, cost, weight, function, and quality for a complete Vehicle Chassis system.
Participates in the creation and implementation of new design concepts.
Maintains up-to-date BOM (Bill of Material) for all assigned parts.
Seeks new ideas.
Fosters continuous improvement in performance, quality, and cost.
Foster cross-functional design activities as a team player.
Releases final designs for manufacturing into Team Center.
Perform feasibility checks with respect to material, manufacturing & design perspective.
Well-versed with ASME or relevant standard & methodology.
Assist design modification, intelligent design, concept creation while optimizing ease of manufacturing, cost, weight, and function.
Assist new product designs to prevent and/or solve any engineering issues that may arise.
Responsible for the final deliveries and quality.
Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R’s.
Verify styling theme feasibility (manufacturing, ergonomics, serviceability, safety & regulatory requirements)


10 + years Complete Chassis experience required. OEM or major Tier 1 experience strongly preferred
BS or MS of Mechanical Engineering
CATIA V5-V6 Experience Required, Expert Knowledge Preferred
Cradle to grave vehicle Design experience starting from concept design to post-launch support is a must
Dimensional Management and Dimensional Checking experience preferred
Chassis development experience preferred (subjective & objective evaluations and data collections)
Strong people skills required. Team leader experience is a must
Experience in Team Center / PLM and Microsoft Suite knowledge required
Works well in cross functional team environment

Essential Functions:

The Chassis Design Release Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing automotive chassis systems components. They will work with Engineering team to define functional requirements, and develop system DVPR, and functional models. This candidate will also be responsible for releasing component performance specifications, drawings and system validation, and they will be responsible for the resolution of issues identified by the Engineering manager / FSS team in connection with the design and release of Chassis Systems (Mechanisms and Controls). They will be responsible for communicating all progress and concerns relative to designing a well-engineered, reliable, and manufacturable product. Strong verbal and written communication skills & interpersonal skills. Must have over 10 years working experience within the automotive chassis related industry.

Contract / Potential for Direct Hire for right candidate.

Required Education and Experience:
B.S in Mechanical Engineering

Preferred Education and Experience:
Fully trained in CATIA V & Team Center
Experienced with CANape, V-Box Data acquisition
Aluminum Machining and Casting Design for Manufacturing
